It’s interesting to see some of the electric two-wheeler makers already registering higher sales than many ICE vehicle brands. Backing this statement is Vahan's registration data of EVs for March 2023. We acquired the EV registration numbers for last month and mentioned below are the five highest-selling electric two-wheeler brands.
5. Hero Electric
By registering 6,652 units last month, Hero Electric secured the fifth position on this list. Although this is considerably more than the number of registrations it recorded in February 2023, Hero Electric slipped from fourth to the fifth position last month as Ampere Electric outsold it by a substantial margin.
4. Ampere Vehicles
By selling 9,334 units, Ampere Vehicles not only managed to outdo itself as compared to February but also acquired a lead over Hero Electric. Notably, the company widened its portfolio a couple of weeks back by launching the new Primus electric scooter, which we’ll get our hands on soon.
3. Ather Energy
The Bangalore-based EV maker, Ather Energy, retained its third position in March 2023. By retailing 12,076 units of two-wheelers, Ather’s month-on-month sales witnessed massive growth, compared to February 2023 when it had sold slightly over 10,000 units.
2. TVS
TVS Motor Company’s iQube seems to be doing extremely well as it recorded its best-ever monthly sales in March and a huge jump over February retail numbers. The company found 16,776 takers for the iQube last month which was up from the registration of 12,573 units in February. This has helped the company retain its second position on this list.
1. Ola Electric
Ola Electric has consistently been outselling all of its rivals in the Indian market and the last month was no different. By registering 21,274 units of its electric scooters, Ola not only recorded its best-ever monthly sales last month but also witnessed substantial month-on-month growth. In February 2023, Ola found 17,667 buyers for its electric scooters.
