The Indian two-wheeler sales numbers are out for the month of June, 2021. There aren’t any surprises here as the order of the five highest-selling two-wheelers has remained the same as the previous months. However, what’s worth noting is that the individual month-on-month sales of two-wheelers have increased substantially, indicating the speedy recovery of the COVID-19-stricken market. Now, let’s take a look at the five two-wheelers which retained their top positions in the sales grid.
Just like every month, the sales chart was led by the Hero Splendor twins including the Splendor Plus and the Splendor iSmart 110. They collectively garnered 2,26,631 customers in the month of June in India which was up from 84,043 takers in May. While the Plus version of the bike is a 97cc offering, the iSmart is a more stylish and feature-rich 113cc commuter motorcycle.
Reserving the second position in the ranking is another Hero motorcycle, the HF Deluxe. It shares its 97cc engine with the Splendor Plus but gets a different styling. The HF Deluxe is Hero’s most affordable motorcycle with prices starting at Rs 49,800 (ex-showroom). With sales of 1,10,724 units last month, the motorcycle witnessed a growth of 163 per cent over May 2021 when 42,118 units of the bike were dispatched.
3. Honda Activa
The Activa 6G continues to be the bread earner for Honda in India with 94,274 units of the scooter sold in June. That’s a substantial hike of 454 per cent as compared to May when only 17,006 Activas were sold. Ever since its inception, the Activa has not only been the best-selling Honda product but has also maintained its lead over all other scooters in India by a huge margin.
4. Honda Shine
Standing fourth in the sales grid is the Honda Shine that’s another successful product from the Indian arm of the Japanese bike maker. This 125cc commuter offering has received minimal updates over the course of its life as the existing formula itself has been highly flourishing. The Shine fetched 71,869 buyers in June 2021, recording a spike of 390 per cent over the previous month.
Competing against the Honda Shine is another 125cc motorcycle, the Bajaj Pulsar 125, in India. The latter is a brawnier and sportier alternative to the former with a styling borrowed from its 150cc sibling. The total sales number of 47,266 units perhaps includes the dispatches of the Pulsar NS125 as well, but we are yet to confirm that.
