2022 could be Royal Enfield’s most exciting year ever. 2021 is when it launched a series of new bikes, but 2022 is when it plans to take things to a whole new level. In this story, we tell you the list of brand new bikes Royal Enfield has planned for 2022 launch in India.
The Scram 411 will be the first launch of 2022. This Himalayan-based motorcycle will be positioned as an urban motorcycle. While the Scram 411 will resemble the ADV, it will still manage to attract a new set of buyers thanks to 19-inch wheel at the front, new paint schemes and lighter kerb weight. The bike is likely to be powered by the same engine, so expect the same performance as the Himalayan.
J1C1
The J1C1 is a code name given to Royal Enfield’s entry-level brand. This yet-to-be-named brand will be launched in India this year and will help the brand get more market share due to its design and the price point. For now, this bike is rumoured to be called Hunter. But at the time of launch, it could get a new name. This motorcycle will be powered by the same engine that powers the Classic 350 and the Meteor 350. In fact, most of the cycle parts will be the same. But the design language will put it as an easy-going urban modern retro motorcycle.
J1C2
The J1C2 motorcycle, once launched, will become the most affordable Royal Enfield. In fact, this motorcycle is likely to have price tag of under Rs 1.3 lakh ex-showroom. This bike will be similar to that of the J1C1 but will get cheaper parts. It will run spoke wheels and less fancy design. Royal Enfield wants to increase its showroom footfalls with this new motorcycle.
Super Meteor
The Super Meteor will make its global debut in 2022. It was expected to be launched late last year but was pushed to 2022. This cruiser is based on the company’s 650cc parallel-twin platform. The Super Meteor will look like the bigger version of the Meteor 350. So expect bigger body panels, better cycle parts and obviously more performance. Royal Enfield is betting big on the Super Meteor as this cruiser has a lot of international focus.
Shotgun 650
The Shotgun aka SG650 was unveiled as a cruiser to the world last EICMA. This motorcycle is a single-seater and will be positioned about the Super Meteor once launched. The SG650 will churn out the same performance as its cruiser sibling, but this bobber will be positioned as a premium 650cc motorcycle in India as well as abroad. The Shotgun 650 will be launched post Super Meteor.
Bobber
Royal Enfield has planned a single-seater bobber version of the Classic 350. This project has been codenamed J1H and is likely to be the most expensive 350cc Royal Enfield in India once launched. This bobber will get single-seat, raised handlebar and white wall tyres.
Mysterious bike
The 7th bike will be Royal Enfield’s most exciting and the boldest project ever. This bike has the ability to disrupt its segment. We’ll talk about this motorcycle quite soon. Stay tuned to BikeWale.
