- Aprilia RS660 teased ahead of EICMA
- Shows overall silhouette with a few visual aspects
- Likely to be available in two versions
Aprilia is all-set to unveil its middle-weight supersport, the RS660, at the EICMA show in Milan. To spike interest amongst the netizens before its official debut, the brand has teased the RS660 on its official social media channel.
The teaser shows the overall silhouette of the motorcycle with only a few aspects visible. Starting up front, it shows a sleek LED headlamp housed in a sharp nose fairing. This extends into an angular fairing featuring the ‘RS660’ decal. What’s interesting is that the motorcycle has retained the same red-coloured seat which was featured on the concept version showcased at last year’s EICMA. At the rear, the pointed tail section evidently loses out on a pillion seat, something that was present on the recently spotted test mule.
Aprilia has described the RS660 as ‘a new exciting concept of sportiness for every day’ conveying that the motorcycle won’t be as aggressive as its elder sibling, the RSV4. This was evident in the latest spy shots of the production-ready model as it was equipped with a slightly raised handlebar as compared to the concept. However, reports suggest that the motorcycle could come in a track-focused sportier trim as well.
The RS660 will be powered by a 660cc, parallel-twin motor derived from the RSV4’s V4 mill. As for the power figures, we’ll have to wait for them to be revealed at the EICMA. On the electronics front, expect the supersport to be fairly equipped with features such as ride-by-wire throttle, traction control and riding modes.
Being an all-new product, the RS660 will be the biggest unveil from Aprilia this year. After its global launch, we also expect it come to India later as the bike maker has a decent line-up in the country. It will directly compete against the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.
