- Features a retro design
- Shares 649cc engine with the Z650 and the Ninja 650
- Indian launch details unavailable yet
Kawasaki has unveiled the all-new Z650RS for the international markets. This new, retro-style model from the Japanese manufacturer should arrive in India, although the official details are unavailable yet. The new middleweight motorcycle will share its motor with the Z650 naked roadster and the Ninja 650 sports tourer.
Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the 649cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor on the new Z650RS makes the same 67.3bhp of power and 64Nm of peak torque as the Ninja 650 and the Z650. Apart from the engine, the new Z650RS will share its hardware, too, with the Ninja 650 and the Z650. Thus, the suspension tasks would be handled by 41mm telescopic front forks and a horizontal link rear mono-shock. The braking setup will comprise twin discs at the front and a single rotor at the back while the safety net, similar to its middleweight siblings, will include a dual-channel ABS.
In terms of styling, the new Z650RS packs a retro design that comprises a round headlight at the front, a curvy fuel tank, split-spoke wheels, and a flat saddle. The feature list on the motorcycle comprises full-LED lighting and a semi-digital instrument cluster. Kawasaki has listed the new Z650RS in three colours in the European market – Metallic Spark Black, Candy Emerald Green, and Metallic Moondust Grey/Ebony.
The Indian launch details are unavailable yet, although we could see this new motorcycle on our shores in late-2021 or early-2022. Once launched, the new Kawasaki Z650RS will rival the likes of Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 and the Honda CB650R in our market.
