The Ampere Nexus electric scooter has been launched in India at an introductory price tag of Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nexus is available in four colours – Indian Red, Zanskar Aqua, Steel Grey, and Lunar White.
The Ampere Nexus is based on an all-new electric platform as it is the brand’s first premium EV to use this new architecture. The scooter is available in two variants – EX and ST. The top-spec ST variant is priced at Rs. 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Post the introductory offer, prices of both versions will be increased by Rs. 10,000.
Powering the Nexus scooter is a 4kW electric motor, paired with a 3kWh LFP battery pack. The scooter has a top speed of 93kmph in Power mode. In City mode, the top speed is restricted to 63kmph; in Eco mode, it is limited to 42kmph. Meanwhile, the electric scooter also gets a Limp and a Reverse mode.
The 3kWh battery pack offers a certified range of 136km and takes around 3.3 hours to charge fully. Ampere supplies a 15A charger with the scooter, while a 25A fast charger is available as an option. The scooter is suspended on telescopic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the back. It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends, while braking duties are performed by a disc brake at the front and a rear drum brake.
On the features front, the Nexus EX gets full LED lighting, 6.2-inch segmented LCD display, and a few connectivity features. Meanwhile, the top-spec ST variant comes equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen, TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and call and message alerts.
The electric scooter can be booked at Rs. 10,000. As for its competition, the Ampere Nexus will rival the Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, and the Ola S1 range.
