-Likely to be named the Ampere Nexus
-Based on a new platform
-Will be the new premium offering by Ampere
Ampere Electric has been busy testing its brand new electric scooter over the past few months. Codenamed the Ampere NXG, the scooter is based on a brand new platform and is said to be the company’s most premium electric scooter yet. After months of testing, the company is finally set to launch the scooter on 30 April.
The Ampere NXG is likely to be named the Nexus, going by the trademark that was filed by the company a few months ago. Also, a few test mules that were spotted in the past revealed some interesting details about the scooter.
By the looks of it, the new Ampere is being targeted at a buyer looking for a family-oriented scooter. This explains the rather large yet conservatively styled body panels that are devoid of sharp or sporty-looking creases. The neat and simple design should appeal to the family scooter buyer.
The large dimensions translates to a long seat and ample legroom on the footboard of the scooter. There also seems to be enough room to seat two adults comfortably.
In terms of features, the scooter is likely to get all-LED lights, TFT display that could feature Bluetooth connectivity and navigation.
As for the chassis, expect to see an underbone frame, with a telescopic fork at one end and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels and in a first for Ampere, there’s a disc brake at the front.
This new scooter will be quite important for the company as it looks to make a large dent in the electric scooter market. It, however, faces stiff competition from the recently launched Ather Rizta and the Ola S1X which received a big price drop a few days ago.
