- Showcased in concept form at the Auto Expo 2023
- Premium electric scooter to be the new range-topping product
- Gets a seven-inch display, 12-inch alloy wheels and a claimed range of 120km
Ampere Electric is readying the production version of the NXG electric scooter and the test scooters have been spotted on the road. While these were draped in camouflage stickers, a close look at the body panels, lights and instrument cluster reveals the Ampere NXG’s identity.
The Ampere NXG is one of the two electric scooter concepts that were showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The other one is the NXU that is based on the same platform and is designed for commercial applications. The NXG will be positioned as the new premium scooter, sitting above the Ampere Primus.
While the company didn’t reveal technical specifications of the scooter, they claim that the NXG will have a mid-mounted electric motor and a range of 120km. However, they haven’t stated whether this is the true range or certified range. The other features that set it apart from the rest of the Ampere scooters include a large digital display, LED lights and flush fitting pillion pegs. The NXG appears to have a sleek bodywork, a large floorboard and a wide seat with enough space to accommodate two adults.
Full details of the chassis are yet to be revealed but we can see that the scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels and we also noticed a disc brake at the front, a first for an Ampere electric scooter.
The Ampere NXG electric scooter is expected to launch this year and it will be more expensive than the Ampere Primus that is currently priced at Rs 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). As far as competition is concerned, the NXG will go up against the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, Vida V1 and the upcoming Bajaj Chetak Premium.
