Ampere Vehicles, a Coimbatore-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer owned by Greaves Cotton, has expanded its portfolio by launching the Zeal. The scooter has attracted the benefits of the new FAME II scheme and is eligible for a subsidy of Rs 18,000. After applying the government-approved subsidy, the Ampere Zeal carries a price tag of Rs 66,950 (ex-showroom, Bangalore).
The Zeal follows the design language of other models from Ampere with compact dimensions. It features an apron-mounted LED headlamp along with handlebar-mounted turn indicators. Moreover, the scooter also gets an anti-theft alarm as a security feature.
The scooter runs a brushless DC motor with a capacity of 12kW while the 60V/30Ah battery of the Zeal takes around 5.5 hours to get fully charged. Ampere claims that this model can deliver a range of around 75km while the top speed it can attain is rated at 55kmph. However, the top speed varies depending on the selected mode amongst Economy and Power. Weighing at 78kg (kerb), the e-scooter comes with a payload of 130kg.
Ampere Vehicles has launched the Zeal in five glossy colour options which include Blue, Silver, Red, White and Yellow. The Ampere electric scooters are sold via Greaves retail stores which has over 300 outlets in various cities across India.
