Aprilia recently introduced the SR GT 200 scooter in Japan. While it is unlikely to make its way to India anytime soon, the SR GT makes for an interesting proposition. So, here we explain all of its details in four points.
Adventure-inspired styling
The Aprilia SR GT 200 is fascinating to look at and that is because there are hardly any scooters in the global market with an adventure theme. Well, there is the Honda ADV 150, but that’s about it. Anyway, the Aprilia SR GT 200 is essentially a maxi-scooter with a tall stance. The front end which gets split LEDs has a tall windscreen and wide, motorcycle-like handlebar to make it purposeful looking. Moreover, with the ‘spine’, long-travel suspension, and high ground clearance, the SR GT 200 looks like it would be up for some light off-roading.
Performance focused
Powering the SR GT 200 is a 174cc, single-cylinder engine that is capable of churning out 17.43bhp at 8,500rpm and 16.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. The scooter, however, is quite heavy at 148kg with a 9-litre fuel tank.
Premium components
Aprilia has equipped the SR GT 200 with some premium hardware. It gets 33mm Showa forks and Showa shock absorbers at the rear. Meanwhile, braking is done by 260mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear. That said, the scooter rides on 14-inch front/13-inch rear wheels shod with dual-purpose tyres.
Decent features
To begin with, it boasts of a 25-litre underseat compartment that is large enough to store a full-face helmet. Additionally, a Start-Stop System, full-LED lights, and an LCD instrument cluster have been included in the list of features. The cluster is compatible with Bluetooth connectivity that is offered as an accessory.
