Aprilia to launch the Shiver 750 in India this year

Last week, Aprilia showcased the Shiver 750 at the India Bike Week 2015 in Vagator, Goa, fuelling rumours that the motorcycle is going to be launched here soon.

While Aprilia had first revealed its intentions of launching the naked middleweight in the Indian market last year at the Delhi Auto Expo, for some reason the Italian manufacturer delayed the launch of the motorcycle. Now with a new strategy in place, reports suggest that Aprilia is planning to strengthen its line-up by introducing the Shiver 750.

The Shiver 750 is currently the most affordable motorcycle in Aprilia’s global range. It is a barebones naked motorcycle built around a trellis frame and is powered by a 750cc V-twin engine. This 90 degrees unit produces 95bhp and 81Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission and gets a ride by wire electronic throttle.

The Shiver 750 will be the entry-level motorcycle in the manufacturer’s line-up and will compete with other naked motorcycles like the Triumph Street Triple, Kawasaki Z800 and the upcoming Ducati Monster 796. The Shiver 750 will be imported to India as a completely built unit (CBU) and is expected to retail in the Rs 9 lakh to Rs 11 lakh price bracket.
