Aprilia has unveiled its all-new middleweight adventure tourer motorcycle, the Tuareg 660. This new product from the Italian two-wheeler brand could arrive in the Indian market, although the official details are unavailable yet. While we await more information about its India launch, we explain the motorcycle in detail.
Design
The new adventure tourer packs a tall stance with minimalistic body panels. The styling cues are inspired by the original Tuareg that was sold in the late 1980s. The new Tuareg 660 comes with a twin-pod headlight, a tall windscreen, an 18-litre fuel tank, fuel tank shrouds, a flat seat, a tall-set exhaust canister, and a bash plate. The company has revealed just one colour option, a retro-inspired colour scheme. We could see more paint options once the motorcycle is launched. The ground clearance has been rated at 240mm while the seat height is 860mm tall.
Features
The feature list on the new Tuareg 660 comprises full-LED lighting, LED DRLs, and a Bluetooth-enabled five-inch TFT instrument cluster. The electronic rider aids include switchable ABS, four riding modes, traction control, engine brake control, and a cruise control system. The adventure tourer rides on cross-spoke wheels (21-inch front and 18-inch rear) that are wrapped in dual-purpose tubeless tyres.
Engine
The Tuareg 660 will share its 660cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor with the RS 660 and the Tuono 660. The engine on the adventure tourer makes 78.9bhp of maximum power and 70Nm of peak torque. Aprilia claims that the revised mapping on the Tuareg 660 is tuned to deliver a good low and mid-range curve.
Hardware
The hardware on the Tuareg 660 includes a tubular steel frame, 43mm upside-down front forks, progressive linkage rear mono-shock, twin discs at the front, a single rotor at the back, and Brembo-sourced callipers. The suspension setup is adjustable and it features 240mm of travel.
Expected Launch and Price
The India launch details, as mentioned before, are not available yet. The Tuareg 660 could be preceded by the RS660 and the Tuono 660 in our country. The adventure tourer may arrive on our shores in 2022. Expect the prices to hover around Rs 11 lakh-13 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
