- Rajiv Sethu completes Race 2 of Round 3 in 12th position earning 4 points
- Sethu’s current standing is now among the top 14 riders on the grid
- The team has acquired a total of 22 points till now, thus crossing the 20 points mark before reaching mid-season for the first time
After a mixed result in the opening race of Round 3 of the on-going FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) in Buriram circuit in Thailand, Race 2 turned out to be fruitful for the Idemitsu Honda Racing India team.
Making the best of the seventh qualified position, Rajiv Sethu managed to get off the starting line with a good start, overtaking two riders in the process. However, the next five laps saw him riding in the ninth position on the grid but only a second behind the rider ahead maintaining a close formation. During the sixth lap of the race, Indonesian rider Rafid Topan Sucipto suffered a high-side which Rajiv quickly avoided using evasive action as he was riding just behind him. This resulted in Rajiv dropping down a position and later two more as he couldn’t keep up with the pace of the other two riders behind him. Choosing to avoid the risk of a crash, Sethu resorted to maintain his position and complete the race in 12th position. On the other hand, Rajiv’s teammate, Senthil Kumar completed the race in the 20th position without losing any position to other riders.
With the race weekend over, Idemitsu Honda Racing India team currently stands at seventh position in the team rankings of the AP250 championship. The team presently has 22 points in the bag crossing the 20 points mark for the very first time before reaching mid-season. The next round of the FIM ARRC 2019 will be held at Suzuka circuit in Japan in June. However, prior to that, the team will be participating in the Suzuka 4-Hour Endurance race which will be held next weekend. This endurance race should help the riders be better prepared for the next round.
