- The AMB 001 has been built in conjunction with Brough Superior, a UK-based automobile manufacturer
- The production is limited to 100 units and 90 units are already sold
- Brough has also announced that the first 30 bikes have been delivered to the owners based in Japan, Australia, Singapore and North America
What was an outlandish concept motorcycle back in 2019, has now completed its production line run (built as per order) and is already making it to the owners’ garages. Yes, British carmaker, Aston Martin, has commenced the deliveries of its turbocharged motorcycle, the AMB 001, that it built in collaboration with Brough Superior.
The first 30 units have made their way to the respective owners in Japan, Australia, Singapore and North America. Moreover, of the total 100 units, 90 have already been sold. But what exactly does the EUR 1,08,000 (INR 90 lakh) bike pack?
Well, for starters, it dons an extensive amount of carbon fibre, aluminum and chrome all over. Underneath the sharp bodywork is a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis that houses Brough’s turbocharged 997cc V-twin. It’s tuned to belt out 180bhp. While that’s not a lot of power compared to some way more affordable superbikes, the AMB 001 tips the weighing scale at 180kg (dry).
The chassis is suspended on CNC-machined aluminum double-wishbone front suspension and a preload and rebound adjustable mono-shock. For the braking hardware, the AMB 001 uses twin 320mm front discs and a single 230mm rear disc. The weight has been kept in check by using forged aluminum wheels and lightweight body panels.
The AMB 001 is said to have undergone vigorous track testing to not only offer a good chassis but also ‘validate its geometry’. The latter is unlikely from what we are used to seeing on even some of the most exclusive production sports bikes.
All said and done, the odds of even a single unit landing on the Indian shore are bleak. But hey, you never know, right?
