Bangalore-based electric two wheeler start-up has unveiled the S340. The scooter comes with a touchscreen dashboard and a claimed battery pack life cycle of 50,000km.
The scooter features cloud-based data service. Some features include a profile-based sign in, on-board navigation and pre-configured drive modes. The scooter comes integrated with a S340 mobile app that helps configure the ride and profile preferences. You can even sync navigation routes on its touchscreen dashboard.
The S340 features a lithium ion battery pack with a range up to 60km and a top speed of 72kmph. It takes 1 hour to achieve 80 per cent charge using the fast charging mode. The electric scooter’s battery pack claims a life cycle of 50,000km and a life span of 5 to 6 years.
With the low positioned battery and electric motor it benefits from a low centre of gravity. The Ather also comes with what they call a hybrid aluminium chassis. It gets an aluminium swingarm and a monoshock.
Ather Energy was founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain. The scooter will be manufactured in Bangalore, Karnataka. The S340 will only be sold via the company’s website and pre orders will start by the second quarter of this year. There are no details on the pricing as yet.
