Okinawa, a Gurugram-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has unveiled a new maxi electric scooter concept, the Cruiser, at the Auto Expo 2020 in Delhi. The production model of the Cruiser will be launched in India by the third quarter of the next financial year.
The prototype scooter on display was adorned with a bold-looking golden texture colour along with blingy chrome-finished handlebar and footpegs. The cruiser sports a typical maxi scooter styling with long and swoopy body panels along with a tall windscreen. It comes equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster along with full-LED lighting. Other features include anti-theft alarm, keyless ignition system, find my scooter function, mobile charging, USB port and motor walking assistance.
Powering the Cruiser is a 4kWh lithium-ion which is detachable, similar to its premium offering, the i-Praise. It rides on a 3kW motor which is capable of achieving a top speed of 100kmph while the battery range stands at 120kms, as claimed by the company. While these figures appear impressive on paper, it remains to be seen how it performs in real world conditions. The Cruiser rides on large 14-inch wheels at both ends. The suspension setup comprises of telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers with the braking equipment featuring disc brakes at both ends.
Looking at other Okinawa products, the Cruiser might also be priced in the affordable spectrum, somewhere in the ballpark of Rs 80,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
