Bajaj Auto gets show cause notice from Pune labour commissioner

Bajaj Auto has been issued a show cause notice by Pune labour commissioner for employing workers and trainees at their Chakan plant who do not have the necessary license and lack the required experience of working on a factory assembly line.

The company has been given three days to respond to the notice. The Chakan plant workers have been on strike since June 25 and have been demanding revision in their wage since that day. Over 1500 workers from the plant have been a part of this agitation demanding the company to allot 500 equity shares to each worker at a price of Rs 1 per share.

The complaint was lodged by the workers union alleging that they (the company) started using workers, who did not have proper license at production line following its strike by its existing pool of employees. They union also claims that the trainees have not been given theory classes as is required and instead are being used full time in the production line.

There is a possibility of motorcycle production to stop or go slow due to the strike. There has been no official word from Bajaj in this regard so far.
