Bajaj Auto, one of the leading bike makers in the country has witnessed a 10 per cent decline in total sales at 3, 13,756 units in May against the 3, 47,655 units sold in the same period last year. Reports indicate that the exports for the bike maker have also dropped by 3 per cent to 1, 39,709 units as against 1, 43,421 units in May 2016.
The bike maker had recently hiked prices across its range in the country. Although, this might partly be the reason behind low sales, faster and improved delivery timelines from rival bike makers has now provided more options for buyers in the country. In the domestic market alone, where Bajaj has been a major player, the brand has witnessed a 15 per cent drop.
The recently hiked prices for Bajaj motorcycles are likely to remain unchanged even after implementation of GST from July 2017.
