Bajaj Auto reports sales dip

- Production affected by the shortage of chips leading to low sales

- Annual sales witnessed a small dip

- Exports have grown in the annual report

Bajaj Auto has released its sales data for FY 2022 and the results indicate that the Chakan-based bikemaker is having a tough time with the sales.

Compared to 4,87,731 units sold domestically in Q4 FY 2021, Bajaj managed to sell only 3,39,100 units in Q4 FY 2022. That’s a 30 per cent depletion in numbers. Meanwhile, for FY 2022, Bajaj sold 16,41,084 units, which is nine per cent less than 18,09,375 units sold in FY 2021.

On the brighter side, Bajaj’s commercial vehicle segment witnessed eight per cent growth in Q4 FY 2022 as compared to Q4 FY 2021 and 47 percent growth YoY in FY 2022.

As for its two-wheeler exports, Bajaj sold 5,19,991 units in Q4 FY 2022. That’s a seven per cent drop compared to the 5,59,901 units exported in Q4 FY 2021. Moreover, its commercial vehicle exports stood at 67,505 units in Q4 FY 2022 against the 75,644 units exported in Q4 FY 2021.

Bajaj says that the semiconductor shortage has affected the production pace and is the root cause behind these low sales.
