Bajaj Auto has reported its sales data for April 2021, recording 3,48,173 unit sales worldwide during the month. The company exported 2,21,603 units while domestic sales stood at 1,26,570 units in April 2021.
Bajaj Auto’s export income stood at Rs 12,687 crore with 52 per cent of its volumes exported to over 79 countries in the recently concluded financial year (FY 2020-21). The company stated in its press announcement that the global sales have earned over USD 14 billion of foreign exchange over the last decade. The company exported over 1.25 million Pulsar motorcycles globally in FY2020-21.
Bajaj Auto introduced the Chetak electric scooter last year. Bookings for the scooter were re-opened recently, and all units were sold-out in less than 36 hours in Pune and Bengaluru. The company plans to scale up the availability of the Chetak to 24 more cities in the coming year.
To expand its production capacity, Bajaj Auto recently announced a major investment of Rs 650 crore in a fourth plant to be built at Chakan, Maharashtra. This new plant will be responsible to manufacture its premium motorcycle brand portfolio and the Chetak electric scooter.
