Bajaj CNG bike new information revealed!

- Likely to use petrol and CNG setup

- Could feature a centrally mounted CNG cylinder

- Will be launched on 18 June

Bajaj Auto is set to launch its CNG motorcycle on 18 June and now we have come across new details of the same. The blueprints of the Bajaj CNG bike reveal the design details of the chassis, placement of the CNG and petrol tank and overall structure.

The Bajaj CNG bike will get a double cradle frame with braces to hold the CNG cylinder. The unit will be mounted in the centre below the rider seat. The nozzle to fill CNG is placed towards the front end and one can also see the primary petrol tank. The petrol tank appears to be a small unit and is located at the usual position with the lid placed at the top as we see on conventional petrol-powered bikes.

Further, the Bajaj CNG bike will get a ‘sloper engine’ to accommodate both CNG and petrol tanks. Since the engine head is oriented at a lower-than-usual position (like the old Hero Splendor), pointing at the front rather than the top, it leaves room to house the CNG tank. These images have also revealed other details of he chassis including the circular braces that are welded to the main frame and the subframe to hold the CNG tank.

It will be quite interesting to see how Bajaj works around the weight distribution of the bike since there will be three major elements contributing to the overall weight – the engine, CNG cylinder, and fuel tank. We expect Bajaj to install a 125cc engine in this motorcycle.

This will be the first motorcycle in India to feature a petrol-CNG setup and that should give the bike incredible range. This should sound like music to the ears of those looking for a commuter that has low running costs. The cost of CNG per kg is cheaper than a litre of petrol by around Rs 25-30. Besides commuters, people engaged in the delivery business of food and other essentials stand to benefit from a petrol-CNG motorcycle.

Other details of the bike’s hardware of telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks, front disc, and rear drum brake setup have already been revealed and you can read about it here.
