The Bajaj Pulsar 200AS has once again been spotted undergoing trials, on the outskirts of Pune. The test mule was covered in heavy camouflage, though the motorcycle’s profile and the familiar bodywork give away its identity.
The Pulsar 200AS will be based on the Pulsar 200NS’s platform and will be powered by the same 199.5cc single-cylinder engine. The Pulsar 200AS or Adventure Sports will be targeted at touring enthusiasts and will be equipped with a tall windscreen and an aerodynamic semi fairing. Even the body panels carry influences from the naked motorcycle’s design, with some modification to improve the bike’s touring ability.
While Bajaj had unveiled the Pulsar 400SS and the Pulsar 200CS at the 2014 Auto Expo, the Pulsar 200AS came as a shock to everyone as the Pune-based manufacturer had never revealed the existence of the motorcycle. The first photos of the Pulsar 200AS were leaked from a dealer meet that Bajaj had organised exclusively for Indonesian dealers at their Chakan facility. Reports suggest that Bajaj won’t be launching the Pulsar 200AS in India anytime soon, with the fully-faired Pulsars SS models and Discover models getting a higher priority than the Pulsar 200AS.
