Bajaj has recorded a two per cent drop in domestic motorcycle sales in August 2017 as compared to August 2016. On the bright side, export numbers during the same period grew by seven per cent.
With overall sales of 2.83 lakh motorcycles, Bajaj recorded a one per cent growth in August 2017 over the corresponding period in the last year. Of these, Bajaj sold 1.71 lakh motorcycles in the domestic market while the remaining 1.12 lakh motorcycles were shipped off to its international markets. The export numbers have helped nudge Bajaj’s overall sales graph towards the north for the first time since the announcement of demonetisation.
It has been a bleak year so far for Bajaj, although we can expect the graph to keep climbing over the next few months. The sales seem to have received an impetus with the start of festive season in the last month. We can expect the company to roll out offers and special schemes during the festive season to keep the ball rolling.
