- Gets modern-retro styling
- To be powered by a single-cylinder engine
- Likely to be revealed later this year
Triumph signed a deal with Bajaj to build affordable motorcycles in January 2020. And now, exactly two years later, the first motorcycle from that partnership has been spotted testing.
The spyshots confirm that the motorcycle would come powered by a single-cylinder engine. While the capacity is unconfirmed, we do know that the smaller Triumph would be around 350-500cc; this would put it in direct contention with the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and the brand’s upcoming ‘Hunter’. The spy images also reveal two versions- one with 17-inch wheels and a scrambler-styled model with a 19/17-inch wheels.
These smaller Triumph motorcycles sport a modern retro design similar to the Street Twin. On the other hand, the scrambler-style version gets knuckle guards and a unique-looking split exhaust can. As for features, the motorcycles sport upside down forks, LED lighting and TFT displays.
It is evident that Triumph is looking to position these single-cylinder motorcycles as premium, yet relatively affordable offerings- something it has done with the Trident 660. Now, by the looks of it, Triumph Motorcycles could unveil the production versions by the end of 2022 or early 2023.
But how affordable would the most-affordable motorcycle be? We can expect the manufacturer to price them competitively around Rs 3.5 lakh- Rs 4 lakh. And the motorcycles could be launched in India a couple months after their global reveal.
