Making its foray into the Indian electric two-wheeler market, BattRE, a Jaipur-based start-up has launched its first electric scooter in India. The electric scooter has been priced at Rs 63,555 and is currently available in select cities like Nagpur, Hyderabad, Anantpur and Kurnool.

The scooter sports a conventional design but with a few quirky bits that make it look interesting. It features a circular LED headlamp with LED DRLs mounted flush into the front apron. The handlebar is a single-piece type flanked by a tinted visor in the middle. It gets a spacious floor board followed by LED tail lamps and a motorcycle-like grab rail at the back. The scooter comes with equipped with a digital instrument console that displays information like battery usage, speed, temperature, odometer and faults, if any. Besides that, the scooter comes equipped with features like keyless start, under-seat storage, USB port, rear reverse and anti-theft alarm with tyre lock.

The BattRE e-scooter is powered by a 250W BDLC motor with a 48V 30Ah lithium-ion battery. According to the company, this setup provides superior performance and longer operational life for the setup. Depending upon usage, the battery is capable of offering a life span of seven years, claims the company. The scooter is capable of achieving a top speed of 25kmph while returning a range of 90km on a full charge. The scooter is suspended by telescopic forks up front and monoshock at the rear on 10-inch alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres. Braking is done by disc brakes at both ends.

Interestingly, the company is also working on a new innovative feature called Internet On Things (IOT), a connected electric scooter function that will be supported by a mobile app. The new feature is expected to be launched soon and it will use a cloud-based GPRS synced with the smart-phone app and store all vehicle-related data.

BattTRE is offering the electric scooter with the choice of five colours, red, black, silver, white and blue. In its segment, the BattRE electric scooter competes against the likes of the Okinawa Praise and Ridge and the Hero Electric Optima.
