- Leoncino 800 production model spotted
- Gets scrambler styling
- Global unveil expected next month
Benelli’s biggest scrambler, the Leoncino 800 has been spotted. From the picture, it’s clear that this is a production-ready model which is likely to be unveiled at the 2019 EICMA Show Italy.
The production model hasn’t change drastically from the concept model that was showcased a year ago. A few things like engine covers, brake discs and area around the pillion foot-pegs have been changed. In terms of mechanical, a lot of things have been changed. The most important one is the wheels which are not alloy ones. But like the 500cc version, we believe the Italian maker will launch the spoke-wheel version under the ‘Trail’ brand.
The Marzochi forks have made way for in-house ones– a way to keep costs in check. The brakes are different too. The concept bike was equipped with Brembo but the production version will use Benelli-branded radial calipers. In terms of power, the Leoncino 800 will be powered by the same 754cc parallel-twin motor that is seen on the 752S. This motor churns out 76bhp and has a top speed of 190kmph. The bike tips the scale at 223kgs, making it 16kgs heavier than its 500cc cousin.
Benelli India with its new partner is going quite aggressive with its launch. It will launch the Leoncino 250 this week, followed by the launch of the Imperiale 400 later this month. We are expecting the Leoncino 800 to make its way to India sometime next year.
