- QJ Motor launches 2022 600RR in China
- Gets a revised design and a bump in engine performance
- Likely to spawn a fully-faired Benelli offering
Benelli’s China-based parent company, QJMotor, has updated its fully-faired motorcycle, the 600RR, for 2022 in its homeland. The sportbike, which uses the same underpinnings as the now-discontinued Benelli TNT600i, has received changes to its styling and engine.
QJMotor has tweaked the design to make it look racier and more aggressive. The most noticeable change is in the front fascia which boasts dual triangular headlamp recesses and winglets similar to the new Ducati Panigale V4. The company says these winglets provide about 5-6kg downforce at 150kmph. The motorcycle is also 2kg lighter at 213kg (kerb), despite the fuel tank being 1.6-litre bigger with a capacity of 18-litre. Plus, QJ has also made it more accessible by lowering the saddle height to 800mm, which is down by 10mm.
QJMotor has also altered the exhaust system of the 600RR which has resulted in reduced back pressure, 5 per cent lesser internal friction, and a bump of 6bhp and 4Nm in power and torque output, respectively. Its 600cc, inline four-cylinder engine now churns out 86bhp and 56Nm. The list of features is also impressive with traction control, riding modes, and a quick shifter, all of which were absent in the Benelli TNT600i. Moreover, there’s a five-inch colour TFT screen and a USB Type-C charging port.
The QJ 600RR is currently on sale only in China. However, we might see a Benelli offering based on the same bike for other markets, including India. And it’s likely to be called the Tornado 650R, a name that was teased by Benelli some time back.
