- Shares its engine with the CFMoto 700CL-X
- Gets front and rear cameras
- To be offered as a more affordable alternative to TRK 800
Benelli is working on a new adventure motorcycle which will be called the TRK 702. While the global unveil of the bike might still be far away, a lot of details and design of the motorcycle have leaked online.
It boasts Benelli’s traditional TRK styling with a bulbous fuel tank section adjoining the front beak along with an aggressive-looking headlamp. What’s different is the engine – it features a 693cc twin-cylinder unit that does duty on the existing CFMoto 700CL-X. At 75bhp, this motor produces nearly the same amount of power as the new Benelli TRK 800. However, the leaked details suggest that this is a more compact and lighter engine than the TRK 800.
Another interesting element that can be deciphered from the design images is the cameras at the front and rear. Notably, the company has already fitted its 1200GT tourer with cameras that was unveiled in China in 2020. These cameras work like a dash cam by providing live video on the console or allowing one to record footage. Interestingly, the motorcycle weighs 220kg which is 15kg lighter than the smaller TRK 502X.
Now, Benelli’s Chinese sister brand, OJMotor is already using this engine for its SRK700 street bike which is on sale in China. QJ is also prepping to launch 701 and 701R sportbikes based on the same platform. The Benelli TRK 702 is expected to be globally launched sometime next year and it might also come to India if Benelli plans to expand its portfolio here.
