- Type approval document leaked
- Looks similar to the 2022 TRK800
- Gets a different motor, similar to the CFMoto’s 700CL
Benelli’s probable next ADV could be around the corner as its type approval documents have been leaked. The TRK 702 has been registered in China and looks pretty identical to the latest TRK 800 (sold overseas).
With that being said, the TRK 702 seems to house a different motor which is similar to the CFMoto 700CL’s unit. Not just that, it makes almost the same power and weighs significantly less than the 800. For reference, the leaked documents reveal that the TRK 702’s 693cc twin motor makes 75bhp whereas the 800’s 754cc parallel-twin motor makes 76bhp.
The TRK 702 has the same trellis frame as the existing TRK 800. However, at 220kg wet, it’s notably lighter than the bigger ADV which weighs 226kg dry. Apart from that, the underpinnings and design too are reminiscent of the 800.
You get a tall stance with butch bodywork. The LED headlight with the beak below and the transparent windscreen above give the TRK 702 a proper ADV attire. Even the overall build seems very purposeful with the pannier mounts, rear luggage rack, center stand and the handguards.
As for the underpinnings, the TRK 702 gets USD forks and a monoshock while the braking hardware comprises dual front discs and a single rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The TRK 702, as per the type-approved documents, rides on spoked wheels wrapped in road-going rubber.
Benelli is yet to launch the TRK 702 officially, so there’s a chance of some tweaks to the final product. However, it won’t be a very long wait. As for the Indian market, Benelli’s current largest offering is the TRK 502 range.
