- Benelli electric motorcycle patent images leaked
- Prototype was showcased at the 2021 Beijing Motor Show
- Production model looks closely similar to the prototype
Benelli’s China-based sister company, QJMotors, had showcased an electric motorcycle prototype at this year’s Beijing Motor Show. While its official debut is awaited, the patent images of the final production model have leaked on the internet.
Christened the QJ7000D, the production model looks closely similar to the prototype. The split-type LED headlamp, angular fairing, storage space in place of a fuel tank, and an upswept floating tail section have all been retained. Notably, the storage space is large enough to accommodate a full-face helmet. With a clip-on handlebar, a split seat, and slightly rear-set footpegs, it should offer a sporty riding position.
The QJ7000D is pretty impressive in terms of claimed performance numbers and other technical specifications. It makes peak power of 10kW (13.2bhp) which keeps it close to a 150cc petrol-powered motorcycle. The top speed and battery range are both rated at 100kmph and 100km, respectively. With 17-inch alloy wheels, upside down front forks, and petal-type disc brakes, the electric motorcycle also has quite a premium hardware package.
The QJ7000D electric motorcycle is likely to make its official debut in China soon which should be followed by its entry into other markets with Benelli branding. Although it won’t come to India anytime soon, we might get a surprise later on.
