- Shares its engine with Kawasaki’s H2 models
- Makes 197bhp and 137Nm
- Gets Bimota’s unique front and rear suspension
Premium Italian two-wheeler brand, Bimota, has taken the wraps off an interesting supercharged adventure touring motorcycle, the Tera. After being showcased as a concept model last year, the Tera’s production version broke cover at this year’s EICMA show in Milan.
In its traditional style, Bimota has equipped the motorcycle with a host of unique elements. One of them is the radical front and rear suspension setup comprising a billet aluminium alloy swingarm that is known to minimise dive under hard braking and boast lesser unsprung mass. Bimota also offers an optional semi-active suspension system from Marzocchi with longer travel and conventional construction. The braking system, meanwhile, comprises Brembo Stylema calipers at the front and rear with Kawasaki’s Intelligent Anti-Lock Braking system.
The engine of the Tera has been borrowed from Kawasaki’s H2 series machines. So, it runs on a 999cc, four-cylinder, supercharged motor that produces 197bhp at 11,000rpm and 137Nm of torque at 8,500rpm. These performance numbers are quite outlandish for an adventure tourer. Now, all of this engineering wizardry is adorned with radical bodywork. The angry-looking front fascia comprises twin LED lamps nestling in a pointed cowl that is flanked by angular fairing. Moreover, the tall windscreen, bulbous fuel tank, and stubby floating-style tail add to its imposing stance. Furthermore, Bimota will have optional hard panniers on offer for the mile munchers.
The pricing and launch timeline of the Bimota Tera for international markets are yet to be announced. And the brand doesn’t seem to have plans of entering India, at least not anytime soon.
