Bimota has unveiled their flagship naked motorcycle the Impeto at the Tokyo Motor Show. But, this is no ordinary Impeto, it comes with an addition of a supercharger which puts it in a different class altogether. The motorcycle, still in concept form, is called the Impeto Kompressor Concept.
Aesthetically, the supercharged Bimota is very similar to the naturally-aspirated counterpart. The only recognisable difference is the cover of the supercharger unit. Other features include the blacked-out Zard exhaust and the LED headlight.
The compressor is driven by a cascade of gears inside the clutch housing and is mounted inside the ‘L’ of the cylinders so as not to affect weight distribution. The electronic brain to look after the supercharging activation is also housed in the self-contained unit. The Italian manufacturer hasn’t disclosed any information about the power increase of the 160bhp original engine. It should be boosted by up to 20 per cent which makes it possible for this big naked from Bimota to make around 200bhp.
The frame and swingarm are made in a light-alloy carbon composite structure. The suspensions are Ohlins both front and rear and the braking is taken care off by Brembo.
Leaving aside the supercharger bits, the bike looks almost identical to the Impeto showcased at the EICMA last year. Once launched, the only rival to the motorcycle will be the Kawasaki H2
