- New BMW electric two-wheeler unveiled
- Gets a cool urban styling
- Gets dual battery packs
BMW Motorrad has unveiled a new electric two-wheeler – CE 02. This electric vehicle is being positioned as an urban vehicle and isn’t being classified as a motorcycle or a scooter.
The idea behind this EV is to build a no-nonsense urban two-wheeler that offers excellent comfort and ease of use. This CE 02 is built around a tubular frame with twin battery packs underneath it. The CE 02 is powered by two 2kWh lithium-ion battery packs with a claimed range of 90 km. The rider will have the option to commute on this vehicle using just one battery pack.
This electric motor makes about 15bhp of peak power and has a top speed of 95kmph. It takes almost five hours to charge this EV using a standard charger entirely and 3 hours 30 mins using a fast charger.
In terms of features, this BMW gets LED lights, reverse gear, two riding modes and a full-colour instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. A lot of accessories are being offered with this BMW, but the pricing will likely be higher.
BMW has priced the base variant of the CE 02 at Rs 6 lakh, and the top-end retails at Rs 7 lakh. The product will soon be sold in Europe and US markets but won’t come to India. However, BMW’s Indian partner, TVS, could use this platform to develop its version and make it cost-effective for the Indian market. In fact, we believe both companies are also working together to develop new electric vehicles for the Indian and global markets.
