BMW CE 04 electric scooter launch in India on 24 July

-15kW electric motor makes around 41bhp

-0-50kmph in 2.6s

-Top speed of 120kmph

BMW Motorrad India is all set to launch the CE 04 electric scooter on 24 July. The CE 04 is the company’s premium electric scooter and while it was previously showcased in India in December 2022, it is finally being launched in the country.

The BMW CE 04 is powered by a 15kW, permanent magnet, liquid-cooled synchronous electric motor that produces 41bhp and 61Nm. The battery capacity is 8.9kWh and BMW claims it can cover 130km in a single charge. Once the battery is depleted, it’ll take a little over four hours to charge it to 100 percent, using a standard charger. The optional quick charger will bring down the time taken to top up the battery to an hour and forty minutes only.

The performance specifications of the scooter are as expected. BMW claims a 0-50kmph time of 2.6s which will make it a super quick scooter off the line after the traffic light goes green. The CE 04 is capable of hitting a top speed of 120kmph.

Moving on to the design, the BMW CE 04 looks straight out of a sci-fi movie. The large apron and flat body panels all around the scooter are what give it that futuristic look. The bench like seat is another design element that catches attention and with a seat height of 780mm, it is quite accessible.

Under the bodywork, the CE 04 has a steel double loop frame, with a single-bridge telescopic fork at the front and a single sided swingarm with a directly hinged suspension strut at the rear. The scooter rides on 15-inch wheels while 265mm discs at both ends are what bring it to a stop. ABS is standard.

Lastly, the features list is contemporary. It has a 10.25-inch TFT display with connectivity and navigation. There’s a nifty storage compartment for your smartphone that is both ventilated and watertight. It also has a USB type-C charger to juice up the phone.

Safety aids include three ride modes- Eco, Rain and Road. Dynamic traction control and ABS pro are offered as optional extras.

The BMW CE 04 will be available for deliveries soon after the launch and we expect it to be priced around the Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom.
