- BMW CE02 production commenced in Hosur
- Powered by a 2kWh battery with 45km range
- Could be launched in India next year
BMW Motorrad has announced the commencement of the CE02 electric scooter in India. The scooter is being manufactured at TVS’s plant in Hosur, near Chennai.
Now, the BMW CE02 is said to be designed, developed in partnership with TVS Motor Company and is already on sale in international markets. Underneath its quirky styling it is powered by a 2kWh battery with customers having the option to choose a single or dual battery setup. This means the scooter offers 90km of range and 95kmph top speed or a 45km range and 45kmph top speed depending on the setup.
That said, the list of features comprises ride modes, LED lighting, a reverse gear, keyless operation, USB charging port and a 3.5-inch TFT screen along with ABS as standard. BMW also offers the CE02 with accessories like soft seats, luggage set, windscreen and a top case. Its hardware consists of USD forks, adjustable rear shocs, and a 239mm front disc with 220mm rear disc. The electric scooter rides on 14-inch wheels and is wrapped in 120/80 and 150/70 section tyres.
Well, the BMW CE02 is being built for international markets and could be introduced in India sometime next year in limited units. This could be done to promote BMW’s electric mobility presence rather than sales numbers.
