- BMW electric adventure bike prototype revealed
- Created by Neeraj Jawale from NID, Gandhinagar
- Gets removable batteries and magnetic charging system
While many of us are apprehensive to accept the inevitable paradigm shift to electric mobility, once in a while we get to see electric prototypes that are so interesting, they make us look forward to the future. One such example is the BMW D-05T electric adventure bike prototype you see in these pictures. It’s created by Neeraj Jawale who is a student of the National Institute of Design located in Gandhinagar, India.
The whole idea of an electric adventure bike is quite uncommon as most of the existing EVs are scooters, naked bikes and sportsbikes. But Neeraj has managed to create a pretty impressive amalgamation of sustainable mobility and the ADV genre that’s usually associated with exploring the unknown and having fun.
The design of the BMW D-05T is profoundly radical and futuristic sporting free-flowing body panels with sharp edges. Unlike many other electric motorcycles that have a bulky mid-section comprising the battery pack, this concept has all of it neatly tucked away in a compact package behind the front wheel. Interestingly, it has removable batteries that’ll be juiced up through a magnetic charging system positioned at both ends of the bike. The batteries will be charged through rotation of the front and rear wheel with the help of dynamos.
The overall concept of the BMW D-05T looks and sounds quite fascinating but it’s still far away from being a reality. Nevertheless, it’s because of such prototypes that we can anticipate an interesting future.
