BMW has given the C evolution a battery upgrade which takes the range to 100miles (161km). This is suddenly changing people’s views towards electric two-wheelers, making them a practical option. The C evolution is now available in two variants, a 15bhp one to meet the A1 licence limit and a ‘Long Range’ one making 26bhp.
The 15bhp one will do a claimed 62miles (100km) between charges while the Long Range model takes that figure to 100miles (161km) thanks to an increase in battery capacity from 60Ah to 94Ah. BMW says the Long Range model has an electronically limited top speed of 80mph (128kmph) while the A1-compliant version will do 74mph (119kmph). The updated C evolution is set to debut at the Paris Motor Show on 29 September, with price to be confirmed.
We do not get this electric scooter from BMW in India as yet, but it is a good thing the company is setting benchmarks that competition will have to match. Ather Energy and Tork Motorcycles are the two manufacturers who are set to enter the Indian electric two-wheeler market very soon.
