-Suitable for A2 license holders
-Powered by a 48bhp, twin-cylinder engine
-Production version to be unveiled next year
BMW Motorrad has dropped a bomb by unveiling the F 450 GS Concept adventure motorcycle. It’s meant for the A2 license class for the international markets and the production model will sit between the G 310 GS and the F 800 and 900 series.
Powering the bike is a 450cc, twin-cylinder engine which, BMW says, has been built from scratch. It produces around 48bhp and has been tuned to deliver punchy performance in the lower revs. In its official statement, BMW has also put emphasis on the compact dimensions and the light weight of the engine which is courtesy of the usage of light materials like magnesium.
Similar to the engine, the chassis has also been developed from the ground up and the focus has been at making it agile not just off-road but also on the road. The front USD suspension is fully adjustable while the rear shock absorber sports load-dependent damping. The kerb weight of the concept sits at just 175kg which facilitates it with an impressive power-to-weight ratio. It’s a typical BMW on the feature front with lean-sensitive ABS, configurable riding modes, and a 6.5-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity.
The German brand intends to make the production version of the bike very close to the concept. It will make the seat height more accessible and there will be an option of cast aluminium wheels alongside the 19-17-inch cross-spoke wheel combination featured on the concept. The production version will be unveiled next year.
