- New F900 GS adventure bike teased
- Gets brand new chassis
- India launch by the end of August
BMW Motorrad is gearing up to launch one of the most awaited adventure bikes – the F900 GS. The company has started teasing the bike on its social media pages.
This new GS will replace the F850 GS in India and other markets. A few months ago, the German brand launched the R1300 GS in India, which received a good response. Now, the company wants to address the middleweight ADV segment with the new F900 GS.
For 2024, BMW has toned down the overall styling of the new F900 GS as it looks like rally-derived from the front. It has lost that large front beak and has gained a forward-biased windscreen. The enduro-styled seat comes standard, and that white exposed sub-frame does make the bike look more rugged.
The engineers have given this new F900 GS a new engine that makes more power. This motor now produces 105bhp at 8500rpm and a peak torque of 93Nm at 6750rpm. The engine mapping has also been revised to get a power bump. In terms of features, these new BMW ADVs are loaded with a TFT instrument cluster, LED lights, a keyless ignition, traction control and multiple riding modes.
The biggest change has come in the form of weight reduction. The new GS is almost 14kgs lighter than the outgoing model. The ergonomics have been tweaked, too, by lowering the footpegs and moving the bars a bit towards the rider. These changes have been made to make the bike friendlier in off-road conditions. The new F900 GS is expected to be launched in India before this month ends with a price tag of around Rs 13 lakh to Rs 13.5 lakh for the base variant. The top-end variant should be around Rs 14.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
