BMW Motorrad working on adaptive traction control system

- BMW developing adaptive TC

- Adjusts grip before the accident

BMW Motorrad is working on a new type of traction control system that will be able to predict road conditions much before an accident takes place. The company recently filed for patents to get this system registered.

The company believes that it is important to avoid a road accident at any cost. Hence, this new traction control system predicts the road condition ahead and adjusts the grip of the tyre accordingly and doesn’t really wait for the accident to take place for the system to function.

In order to make this work, the company has installed cameras at the front that will keep scanning the road in real-time and feed the details to the main system. This system then does all the calculations which in-turn control the way the traction control system, brakes and engine reacts.

We believe this system is still a few years away but will eventually make it to almost all BMW models.
