BMW Motorrad recently rolled out the 10,00,000th unit of its boxer-twin GS and it was the R 1250 GS Triple Black. At the same time, the Bavarian bikemaker also revealed the debut date for its upcoming flagship ADV, the R 1300 GS. It’s set to be unveiled on 28 September in Berlin.
The upcoming BMW R 1300 GS will be a successor to the current R 1250 GS and employ a 1,300cc boxer-twin motor. It’ll be linked to a six-speed gearbox and dish out 143bhp and 143Nm. It’s also expected to benefit from BMW’s ShiftCam technology but could get a slightly different tune compared to the current 1250 series.
The design aspect of the R 1300 GS has been revealed by the test mules spotted so far. It’ll get a brawny bodywork completed with a tall stance and overall butch face consisting of an LED headlight, a radar system, a beak with auxiliary lights below, and a small visor above. On the other hand, BMW could ditch the current tubular frame for a new one on the R 1300 GS and suspend it on the front Telelever and rear Paralever springs. Further, the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels are expected to be shared with the bike’s smaller sibling.
For the features list, we expect the BMW R 1300 GS to get LED illumination, radar-based cruise control, collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, a fully digital console with GPS, ride modes, traction control, ABS, and more.
As mentioned earlier, after its unveiling in late September, BMW Motorrad could commence the launch of R 1300 GS in other markets, including India, by the year-end or early 2024.
