BMW has long been working on a cruiser motorcycle which was revealed in the form of the R18 Concept last year. This was also followed by spy shots of the motorcycle emerging on the Internet, confirming that it’s nearing production. In order to further affirm its imminent launch, the BMW R18 cruiser, along with its touring version, has now been spied once again, this time in a fully-finished, production-ready guise.
Unlike the previous spy shots of the motorcycle being tested on the road, the new pictures reveal the motorcycles being pushed, perhaps for loading on a transport vehicle. Although they were veiled by a blue cloth, a significant part of the bikes was exposed revealing various details about the motorcycles.
Besides the fat tyres, BMW-branded discs and chunky front forks, the main highlight of the bikes is the enormous, chrome-finished engine bay held on by a double cradle frame. From the reports doing rounds on the internet so far, we know that this will be a 1,800cc, boxer-twin motor which will be largest powerplant the German bike maker has ever made. While the cruiser was deprived of any accessories, the touring model appeared to be equipped with chrome-finished round mirrors, a tall windscreen and huge panniers on both sides. Interestingly, a bagger version based on the same platform will also accompany these models.
BMW will reportedly make four world premiers at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan, to be held next month. The R18 will most likely be a major part of this grand unveiling by the manufacturer.
