- Will be powered by a 2,000cc boxer-twin motor
- Likely to borrow a lot of bits from the R20 concept
- Could debut in 2026
BMW announced the R20 concept around May this year. Since then, the brand has introduced a few more products to the market, but we haven’t quite heard about the gorgeous roadster that it unveiled earlier. However, that is about to change as new information about the R20 has emerged.
The BMW R20 is likely to debut in 2026. Its details have now been registered and confirmed in Germany. The BMW roadster will house a 2,000cc boxer-twin motor that is likely to make about 100bhp and 160Nm. Although the BMW R20 Concept was showcased with a single-seat setup, we expect the production model to get an optional pillion seat as well.
Its hardware will comprise a steel frame suspended on USD front forks and a monoshock. Both ends will get adjustable springs from the Ohlins Blackline series. The brakes on the other hand comprise dual front and a single rear disc with dual-channel ABS. However, these are mounted on 17-inch spoke wheels which will likely be cross-spoke and get tubeless tyres. You can expect features like full LED illumination, a TFT with smartphone connectivity, ABS, traction control, and more on the R20.
Although it will be more than a year before the bike makes its international debut, we think BMW could also bring it to India.
