- 2022 BMW K 1600 series India arrival teased
- Available in GT, GTL, B and Grand America variants internationally
- India might get GT and GTL trims only
BMW Motorrad has teased the 2022 K 1600 touring bikes ahead of their India launch. Globally, this series comprises four models including K 1600 GT, K 1600 GTL, K 1600 B, and K 1600 Grand America. In India though, the brand is likely to launch only the former two versions.
While the styling of all bikes has remained essentially the same, there are several updates in their engine and electronics. All four K 1600 models are powered by the common 1,649cc, six-cylinder engine. While the power output too is the same at 158bhp, it comes in 1,000rpm earlier at 6,750rpm now. At 179Nm, the peak torque output has also witnessed a slight bump. New inclusions in the engine include two knock sensors and four lambda probes (previously two).
With a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU), the new K 1600 models get an electronic traction control system as standard which delivers varying traction intervention as per the selected riding mode. There are three riding modes (Dynamic, Rain, and Road) and two settings (Dynamic and Road) for its semi-active suspension. Other features include adaptive LED headlights and a 10.25-inch TFT instrument cluster with dual screens.
The prices of the BMW K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL are likely to start from Rs 30 lakh. The latter, which is a more touring-oriented offering, will be available with a bunch of optional accessories to enhance the comfort quotient.
