- BMW Definition CE 04 electric scooter concept unveiled
- Intends to show the future of electric mobility
- Gets a 10.25-inch full colour TFT screen with smartphone connectivity
BMW Motorrad is known for its futuristic concepts and the newly unveiled Definition CE 04 is another example of its engineering prowess. If you remember, BMW had shown a concept scooter in 2017 called the Concept Link, which was way ahead of a production model. The Definition CE 04 is a sort of successor to that as it has moved one step closer to production.
With this new concept, BMW intends to give us a glimpse of what the future of mobility comprising of electric scooters looks like. As can be seen in the pictures, its design is quite unconventional by today’s standards, with a long and low slung stance, a flat floating seat and a maxi scooter-like footrest provision. The space which is occupied by the flat footboard in existing petrol-powered scooters is taken by the battery pack. The advantage of this design is a lower centre of gravity and availability of storage space under the seat, large enough to place a helmet.
In line with its theme of connected mobility, the Definition CE 04 is equipped with a large 10.25-inch full-colour TFT screen which connects with the rider’s smartphone and gives access to music controls, calls and navigation. BMW has also developed a range of riding gear matching the concept’s overall theme. Among other things, it includes a parka with an in-built wireless mobile charging functionality.
As compared to the currently available electric scooters, BMW’s Definition CE 04 concept looks substantially more advanced and we can’t wait to see it turn into reality, which might still take a few years.
