- BMW is calling it ‘eParkourer’
- Claimed battery range is 90kms
- Top speed stands at 95kmph
With the world gradually moving towards electric mobility, some brands aren’t shying away from experimenting and making something different from just point A to point B commuters. Take BMW Motorrad’s new CE 02 electric two-wheeler, for instance. It truly embodies quirkiness with its styling and use case.
BMW is calling it ‘eParkourer’, a term that’s strange and never used before for a two-wheeler. Clearly, the German brand is pitching it as a fun and playful e-mobile. Looking at its minimalistic bodywork, low seat height, and small wheels, the CE 02 is essentially an urban runabout. All the visual mass on the electric bike is made up of the motor and battery at the centre, disc wheels, and golden USD forks up front. The triple-tone paint scheme comprising blue, black, and grey, along with the BMW logo on the front wheel, lend a bit of visual funk to the e-bike.
Underpinning the CE 02 is a steel double-loop frame clinging on to which is an air-cooled, synchronous motor producing around 15bhp of maximum power output and 54.91Nm from the get-go. This motor is delivered energy via a pair of 1.96kWh air-cooled, lithium-ion batteries. With a top speed and battery range of 95kmph and 90km, respectively, the CE 02 is suitable for city commuting only. Through a 1.5kW fast charger, it can be fully juiced up in 3.5 hours.
Riding on 14-inch disc wheels, the bike is suspended by 37mm inverted telescopic forks up front along with a single-sided aluminium swingarm connected to a direct-link monoshock with preload adjustability. Weighing 132kg and boasting a low seat height of 29.5 inches, the CE 02 should be easy to handle and maneuver by riders of all age groups and build. All the details about the vehicle are shown on a tiny 3.5-inch colour TFT.
BMW Motorrad has priced the CE 02 quite exorbitantly at USD 7,599 (Rs 6.26 lakh) in the US. Considering that price tag, it won’t be entering a market as price-sensitive as India anytime soon.
