-BMW Motorrad not to participate in EICMA and Intermot show this year
- The decision comes after the disruption caused by the spread of Coronavirus
- World premieres and product highlights will be organised through online channels
BMW Motorrad has officially announced that it won’t be a part of two of the world’s largest motor shows, the EICMA and Intermot, this year. While the former takes place in Milan in November, the latter is organised in Cologne in October every year. The company took this decision in the wake of the uncertain times which lie ahead due to the global spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
As the COVID-19 virus has gripped many countries, it massively disrupted businesses causing brands to shut operations for an unforeseeable period. Amidst this, BMW Motorrad has clarified that the decision of withdrawal had been made not only for the brand’s internal stability but also to maintain ‘security, predictability and transparency’ with its official partners in motor show appearances.
The German bike maker will utilise its online channels to carry out the world premieres of new offerings and products highlights. These will take place in the period of September to December 2020. However, one the biggest debuts from BMW has been scheduled on 3 April 2020 which will be streamed through its online channels. The company will take the wraps off its highly-anticipated R18 cruiser featuring a 1,800cc boxer-twin engine, the largest displacement powerplant on a production BMW yet.
