- Will be offered in high-end motorcycles
- Bosch is working on bringing it to middle-weight bikes
- Will need significant upgrades in braking hardware
The recently unveiled KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO is the first motorcycle to get Bosch’s latest radar tech that allows the bike to come to a dead stop when following traffic. Bosch has now announced that its new generation ARAS (advanced rider assistance system) will be offered in more high-end motorcycles in 2025.
The system includes radars at both ends that can apply additional brake pressure to prevent accidents and stop the bike behind any vehicle in emergency situations. The system also allows the motorcycle to pull away from a stop once the traffic clears.
The new self-stopping radar tech works in conjunction with the automatic gearboxes that many established bike makers offer in their motorcycles. Bosch has also revealed that it is working on bringing the new radar tech to middle-weight bikes as well as premium high-end scooters.
That said, the system will come at an additional cost. In addition to the cost of the radar system, two-wheeler manufacturers will also need to upgrade the braking hardware with better components for the system to work in harmony.
