- Based on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO
- Gets cosmetic and mechanical changes
- Limited to 300 units of each colour
Germany-based tuning company, Brabus has unveiled its latest product, the 1300 R Edition 23. It’s essentially a KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO with a bevy of cosmetic and mechanical changes. Here’s what we know about the bike.
Brabus has converted the aggressive-looking streetfighter bodywork into a rather neo-retro design. The boomerang-like LED headlight makes way for a round unit while the tank cover is made of carbon fiber, much like the remaining bits. Even the stock seat has made way for a denser unit with quilted stitching. It features a wider handlebar with bar-end mirrors. Other bits like footpegs, clutch and brake levers have also been replaced with new CNC machined pieces.
The Brabus 1300 R Edition 23 is powered by the same 1,301cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder motor with the output rated at 180bhp and 140Nm. It’s mated to a six-speed gearbox and benefits from a bi-directional quickshifter. Brabus has also replaced the KTM TFT screen with an in-house unit. Not to mention, features like heated grips, cruise control, and rider aids have remained unchanged. The stock Akrapovic exhaust is replaced with a custom-made twin-barrel unit from Brabus.
The suspension setup for the 1300 R Edition 23 comprises WP’s semi-active USD front forks with a steering damper and a rear monoshock. Meanwhile, the braking hardware consists of Brembo Sytlema units mounted on forged wheels wrapped in Bridgestone S22 tyres.
Brabus will offer the 1300 R in two colours: Superblack and Stealth Grey. 145 units of each will be offered with 290 of the total 300 units being made available for the public. Bookings for this bike will commence on 16 February.
