- Powered by 999cc, inline-four engine
- Launch likely in July 2022
- To rival BMW S1000 XR and Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX
Suzuki Motorcycle India has released a teaser video on its social media platforms, confirming the imminent launch of the Katana in our market. This litre-class motorcycle is already available in the international markets where it complies with the Euro5 emission norms. The India-bound model, which will most likely arrive via the CBU route, will pack the same features and specifications.
The fuel-injected, 999cc, inline-four, liquid-cooled engine on the Katana is tuned to deliver a maximum output of 150bhp. The six-speed gearbox benefits from Suzuki Clutch Assist System. The motorcycle, which will rival the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX and the BMW S1000 XR in the Indian market, packs upright ergonomics, adjustable suspension setup, and Brembo-sourced callipers.
The electronic rider aids comprise three ride modes, cornering ABS, five-level traction control system, low RPM assist, and bi-directional quickshifter. The Katana also packs full-LED lighting, however, the 2022 version, which is sold in the international markets, uses an LCD instrument cluster. In comparison, its rivals use a colour-TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity.
The launch date is not available yet. However, we expect the Suzuki Katana India launch to happen next month (July 2022).
